Shining a light on the Beijing Olympics
The blog of a 44 year-old gay man living in Melbourne, Australia: a writer, broadcaster, arts worker, arts lover, and Collingwood supporter. Should contain moments of angst about being single, reviews of various arts events, and sporadic humour.

I can't help but think that not carrying the torch, not turning up to the opening ceremony etc. is a bit of a lame protest. If people really feel strongly about the situation in Tibet, then surely they should be calling for a complete boycott. At present its a bit like saying we like you enough to do something insignificant, but not enough to do anything meaningful. I really can't see why the Chinese government would care about the torch relay when all they will do is stick someone in instead.
